Chinese restaurant in Thonon: nems, wok and Cantonese rice.
Strictly speaking, Sushi & Nem is not a Chinese restaurant: our family cooks Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese. But everything people look for in a Chinese restaurant in Thonon is on the menu, hand-rolled nems, grilled gyoza, fried dumplings, Cantonese rice and wok-fried noodles, with a sushi counter on top.

探The real need
What people actually mean by Chinese in Thonon.
On the southern shore of Lake Geneva, searching for a Chinese restaurant in Thonon rarely means Cantonese cooking. Nine times out of ten the wish is simpler: nems to share, dumplings, a generous fried rice, a wok dish, an Asian family meal without booking three days ahead. Strictly Chinese addresses are rare here; most, like us, mix the cuisines of South-East Asia.
Let us be straightforward: we serve neither Peking duck nor Xiao Long Bao. Half of our menu, however, matches exactly what people usually order in a local Chinese restaurant, and it is cooked to order rather than kept warm. That honesty is what brings back regulars from Thonon, Publier and Amphion.

炒The wok
Cantonese rice, fried noodles, wok dishes.
Cantonese rice is probably the most ordered dish when people think of a Chinese restaurant. We serve it plain, with halal chicken, halal beef or prawns, as a side or as the base of a full meal. Next to it, the fried noodles with vegetables also come with chicken, beef, prawns or tofu for a meat-free version.
The rest of the hot menu comes out of the same wok: pad thai with its rice noodles, peanut and lime; chicken or beef with lemongrass served with white rice and stir-fried vegetables; beef Loc Lac, marinated beef cubes seared over a high flame. Quick cooking, strong heat, fresh herbs added at the end: that is where the aroma comes from.
Dish details, vegetarian options and allergens are listed on our full menu, kept up to date in the kitchen.
点心The starters
The starters everyone orders by reflex.
Nems, dumplings, gyoza: the opening trio of an Asian meal. Everything is folded and filled in the kitchen, then cooked to order, never taken out of a bag to be reheated.

Nems and spring rolls

Fried prawn dumplings

Grilled gyoza, four fillings
Nems are folded with halal chicken, samosas with halal beef, and spring rolls are filled with rice vermicelli, crunchy vegetables and mint wrapped in a rice sheet. Gyoza come in four versions, chicken, beef, prawn and vegetarian, pan-grilled until the bottom crisps up. Add a miso soup with tofu and wakame seaweed and the meal starts exactly like at the local Chinese restaurant.
Nem or spring roll, the confusion is common: we set out what really separates the two in a dedicated guide.
持Three ways to order
Dine in, takeaway or delivered across Thonon.
The room runs on two rhythms: quick lunches at noon, longer tables in the evening. For takeaway, order by phone on 06 59 29 25 48 and collect at the counter within fifteen to twenty minutes. For delivery, Uber Eats covers Thonon centre, the Belvédère, Vongy and Concise, then Anthy, Margencel, Publier and Amphion: the full picture is on our sushi delivery in Thonon page.

違The difference
What sets us apart from a classic Chinese.
A traditional Chinese restaurant works with mainland cooking, its steamed dumplings, Peking duck and Sichuan dishes. Our cooking comes from Vietnam and Thailand: it rests on fresh herbs, lemongrass, coriander, Thai basil and mint, and on short cooking times. The aroma comes from the herbs, not from a thickened sauce.
Second difference, there is no pork on the menu: the meats served are halal, chicken or beef, which remains rare among Asian addresses in the area. Third difference, a genuine sushi counter run by Vincent, a sushi chef for twenty years, with fish delivered fresh every morning. One half of the table can eat nems and fried rice while the other orders maki.
Opened in November 2025 at 2 avenue d'Évian, Sushi & Nem brings together the Vietnamese and Thai cooking of a restaurateur family and a sushi counter under one roof.
How the fish is handled is explained on the Japanese restaurant in Thonon page, and the story of the house on our about page.
