Sushi near Publier and Amphion: six minutes along the lake.

Publier and its lakeside resort of Amphion-les-Bains sit on the southern shore of Lake Geneva, six minutes from our counter on the D1005. Our sushi chef works at 2 avenue d'Évian in Thonon-les-Bains, and the whole town enjoys the same home-made menu: on the spot, takeaway, or Uber Eats delivery.

The distance

Six minutes on the D1005, the same menu as at the counter.

Publier and Amphion-les-Bains have no sushi counter of their own, but one sits six minutes away. From Amphion beach, the marina or the heights of Marin, the D1005 follows the lake to the edge of Thonon: just past Vongy, avenue d'Évian is on the right, below the Belvédère. That is the drive our regulars from Publier and Amphion make every week.

That quarter of an hour there and back changes nothing about freshness: the fish is delivered fresh, cut to order, and the vinegared rice is cooked during the day, never prepared the night before. For those who prefer to stay in Publier, Uber Eats delivers to the town, sushi in insulated packaging, rice that holds without drying out. The dining room is open for lunch and dinner, except on Wednesday.

The table

What families and holidaymakers take back to Publier.

Many orders from Publier start at the counter and end at home, on the terrace or after a day at Amphion beach. The sharing formats are built for that: one pickup, the whole table served.

  • Sushi boat for a large table at Sushi & Nem

  • Hand-folded halal chicken nems served as a starter at Sushi & Nem

Platters range from the Crazy California, three assorted california rolls with cabbage salad, to the Voyage gastronomique and the Prestige diabolique, which mix soups, salads and premium categories. The Romantique platter is sized for two, the Veggies platter for those who eat neither meat nor fish. Above them, the Sushi Party boats are built for five people, or six and more, with a deposit returned when the boat comes back.

For children, the menu for under-tens brings together two halal chicken nems, white or Cantonese rice, coconut pearls and a drink. At lunchtime, the dish of the day and the student menu make for a quick meal before heading back to Amphion or Marin. Everything is listed on the detailed menu, platters, allergens and options included.

中華Chinese-restaurant style

The Chinese-restaurant spirit in Publier: nems, gyoza and wok dishes.

Many people in Publier and Amphion look for a Chinese restaurant nearby; in practice, they mostly want nems, gyoza, wok-fried dishes and good rice to share as a family. Sushi & Nem is not literally a Chinese restaurant, but our menu brings together exactly those classics: hand-folded halal chicken nems, spring rolls, beef samosas, grilled gyoza, miso soup, Cantonese rice and fried noodles. Everything is prepared in the kitchen, to order.

What sets us apart from a classic Chinese restaurant is our fresh herbs, lemongrass, coriander, Thai basil, mint, and the double culture of the house, which adds a real sushi counter to the wok. You can collect it all in six minutes on the D1005, or have it delivered to Publier and Amphion through Uber Eats.

The cooking

Bo bun, pho, pad thai: the house is Vietnamese and Thai.

Our family cooks Vietnamese and Thai first and foremost. Bo bun is built on a bed of rice vermicelli and salad, with halal chicken or beef. Pho simmers its aromatic broth with rice noodles and fresh herbs. Pad thai comes with chicken, beef, prawn or tofu, with peanut and lime. Alongside them, beef Loc Lac, seared in cubes over a high flame.

Two useful markers before ordering from Publier: the meats served are halal, chicken or beef, and there is no pork on the menu. And cooking without meat or fish is not an afterthought here: vegetarian gyoza, tofu pad thai, tofu fried noodles, avocado or cucumber maki, wakame salad, edamame and the Veggies platter.

Dish-by-dish details are on our full menu, kept up to date in the kitchen.

Takeaway or delivery

Collected at the counter on the way back to Publier, or delivered home.

The simplest option from Publier is collection: call 06 59 29 25 48, stop at the counter on the way along the D1005, and the meal reaches home still warm. For delivery, Uber Eats covers Publier and Amphion as well as central Thonon, with a lead time that grows with the distance. The full picture is on our sushi delivery in Thonon page.

The counter

A sushi chef, not a chilled shelf.

Vincent runs the counter after twenty years behind a board. It shows on the plate: a nigiri with taut, uncrushed flesh, a maki that holds without being over-tightened, a california roll where every ingredient stays recognisable. The fish is delivered fresh, the vinegared rice is cooked during the day, the sauces are reduced in the kitchen.

It also means one table does not have to choose: some order sashimi, temaki or dragon rolls, others a pho or fried noodles, and everything leaves the same kitchen at the same moment. For families from Publier or Amphion who eat out together, that is the difference between a compromise and a proper meal.

Opened in November 2025 at 2 avenue d'Évian, Sushi & Nem brings together the Vietnamese and Thai cooking of a restaurateur family and a sushi counter under one roof.

How the fish is handled is explained on the Japanese restaurant in Thonon page, and what makes a good sushi in our dedicated guide.

The southern shore

From Publier to Anthy, the same road follows the lake.

Publier sits halfway between Thonon and Évian, but the whole lakeside is short of Asian addresses overall. Each neighbouring town has its own page, with the drive time from the counter.
